Kenny Tran Set New Personal Best E.T

Atco ,NJ – Hot Rod contender Kenny Tran scored his new personal best E.T this past weekend with an 8.41@171mph in the last qualifying round of the fourth race of this season at the NHRA Sport Compact Race.

The Quaker State – Nitto  racing team was the number two qualifier entering elimination on Sunday. “It was a good pass overall and I’m glad to see that everything is working well and I know we still have more left in the car” Tran explained. “With the new Xtrac sequential transmission, we had to go through a new learning curve and finally we see some  dividends”.

First round match-up, Kenny had a bye-run and just took it easy for the win and prepare to run Marty Ladwig of GM Performance in the semi-final. Right after the burn-out, the Quaker State Honda Civic started to leak something out and was told to shut off at the line. “ After the fact, we found a small stress crack on the oil sump causing to leak, it was very untimely, but we’re not discourage. It’s just a matter of time before we get all these nail down and chase after the points leader”.

Tran is currently in the 4 th in points in the NHRA Sport Compact Hot Rod class standings just 45 points out of third place.

The next event for the Quaker State – Nitto racing team is the NHRA Sport Compact Bandimere Speedway, Morrison, CO. June 12-13, 2004.
